In each of our three divisions, there is one undefeated team left. Separated at the top of their respective divisions are Kelowna United F.C., DMA United & Acera Football Club. Not for the lack of close matches, these teams have been able to continue top form just like championship teams do.
DMA United came away with a narrow win against holders Sterling Mutual in their Tuesday clash. The squad is firing on all cylinders ⅓ of the way into the season, with goal-scoring talisman and captain Lucas Hicklin & Nate Portz leading the way with 5 goals a piece.
Kelowna United F.C. beat holders Okanagan F.C. by a narrow 2-goal margin in a tight match. Despite not scoring very many goals this season. KU keeper ‘Sandy’ Hunt has proven to continue as one of the best goalkeepers across the OPL with only 5 goals against in 4 matches.
Acera F.C. gave ProMotion F.C. a drubbing, beating them 13-1 Sunday evening, which adjusts to 9-1 after the maximum 8-goal differential. The youth of Acera in the Over-35 division may prove too much to handle down the stretch. While some say experience rules, that only comes if teams are not tactically inept.
Look out for a mammoth fixture Monday evening as Glory Days Athletics play host to HDC Peachland, giving one of the teams a chance to stay close to Kelowna United as they play the u21s of Okanagan F.C. this week.
Remember teams to please arrive at the match at least 20 minutes before kickoff so you have time to dress, warm up and be set for the match start time at the top of the hour. Referees have been instructed to start the clock early if teams aren’t ready to start on time themselves.
Good luck this week!
